loved the range this month! I feel the exact same way about Mandel's writing. Also want to read Kavalier and Clay but I need a month break from the big boys or I am not gonna have anything to write about lol
I was surprised myself by the different genres I’ve read. I heard Mandel is writing a new novel but she also has other writing projects so I doubt the new novel will be anytime soon 😂
I’m so pleased to hear how much you enjoyed ‘Sea of Tranquility’ - I loved it soooo much! Super interested in ‘Wizards of Earthsea’ too. I’ve only ever read one Le Guin (The Lathe of Heaven) which I did really enjoy! But last year I tried to read ‘The Lefthand of Darkness’ and I just struggled so much I ended up DNFing. I have ‘The Dispossessed’ on my shelf so I might try and get back into her via another book!
Sea of Tranquility is so precious 🥹 It literally took my breath away after realizing I was on the last page 😂 Actually, I initially wanted to read The Dispossessed but I couldn’t find a copy so I went for A Wizard of Earthsea. Hoping to read The Dispossessed soon too!
I felt similarly when I read Earthsea as well, such melancholy. I wish I read it when I was a child and in adulthood because there really is so much to glean and your POV changes so much, but can pull so much from that beautiful read.
I've been meaning to try out Mandel's books ever since Station Eleven made it to the NY Times' list of best books in the 21st century! What do you recommend I should start with?
I also read both Wizard of Earthsea and Sea of Tranquility in the last couple of months - eerie coincidence. I really liked Kavalier and Clay, I hope you enjoy it
yes please. Rewired my brain after reading it. I’ll never stop recommending it.

Love Mandel! I read Station Eleven during the pandemic and it was thrilling.
I read it during the pandemic too 😂 and watched the series after. thank god covid wasn’t as extreme as the one in Station Eleven!
Lol I read it at the beginning so it was scary 😅 haven't seen the series yet tho! Is it good?
oh gosh 😅 The series was a bit different from the book but it was good on its own.

agree! your POV does change as you grow older.

Station Eleven!

Also another coincidence - both books having Sea in the title!
Ahhh we read Sea of Tranquility in our book club this month 😊💖
ahhh did you guys all love it?
It was a mixed bag tbh, I think some loved it and some not so much. We'll be having our meetup to discuss it this Wednesday ☺️💖
yeah I can see why it some wouldn’t like it as much. Happy book talk and discussing!
Thanks 💞
