Dear Reader,
I got married the other week thus the long absence. Having a full time job plus planning a wedding is a Herculean task. I am so glad it’s over now. But (second) best of all, is that my friends threw me a surprise book-themed bridal shower! They even gave me books and all games were literature related! Still not over this shower so I’m not going to stop talking about it on the internet. Here are some pictures.
The first part of the program was book giving and here are the books I received. I love how diverse these books are!
The Art of Thinking Clearly by Rolf Dobelli - My friend who gave me this is a corporate girlie thus the reason for picking up this book. She also gave me an Eras Tour tote bag official merch!!
1 Page At a Time by Adam J. Kurtz - Gifted by my sister so that I can journal my next 365 days as a wife 💖
The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris - My friend who is an occasional reader really liked this book. This has been on my radar for a while now and I’m so happy she gifted it to me.
Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain - My boyfriend (now husband!!) and I are both introverts that’s why my friend picked this one. This book explores the power of introverts and provides insights into how introverts can thrive in a world that often values extroverts more. I know sometimes she reads this newsletter so Hi Z!! I am so excited to read this one.
Idiots: Marriage, Motherhood, Milk & Mistakes by Laura Clery - My friend who doesn’t sugarcoat her experience and life advice recommended this book since this memoir doesn’t hold back anything. So excited to read this one!
The Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer - Back in college, me and my friend who gifted me this (we) couldn’t afford buying new books so we only borrowed from our other friend (Hi again Z!). One day we said to each other that once we graduated and had jobs, we promised ourselves we would, not only buy one book, but a whole series. One of these book series was Twilight. When she pulled out that book, the years of friendship with this friend group came flooding in. In her own words, she said “These books maybe so cheesy now but remember the promise we had back then.”
Chef RV's Cooking Secrets By Chef RV Manabat - My husband and I love to explore food although he’s more of the cook than me. We all know how hard it is to come up with meals day after day so I can’t wait to try the recipes here. I already skimmed the recipes here and they are fairly doable. My friend who gifted me this cookbook sometimes reads this newsletter so Hi G!!
Kamasutra365 (not in picture) - I gifted this same book to the first one in our group to get married. She has now returned it to me as a gift and I plan to regift this to the next one in our group to get married. You can call it the sisterhood of the traveling kamasutra.

My wedding was on a weekday and at my hometown. Meaning, everyone had to fly in and leave work and family obligations midweek. Most of them had to take a few days off work which can be really difficult to do. To host a bridal shower on top of that, is something I do not take lightly. I am incredibly honored that they came for my wedding.
P.S.
I haven’t read much during April and May but here’s to hoping I can go back on track. Thank you so much for the inbox space and until next time!
This is just too cute I love it!!!
Congratulations Jam!!!!! A book themed bridal shower is divine 💝
