I couldn’t get into Rouge. Maybe I’ll try again. The Suzanne Collin’s is on my TBR.

What a great wrap-up, Jam! I wasn't planning to read the new Hunger Games book, but you might have just convinced me to.

What a fascination selection of books - The Empusium and Human Acts covers alone are enough to make me want to read them (hell yeah I judge books by their covers!)

Actually, I've read a bit of Olga Tokarczuk - I loved Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead (Flights was okay, just a bit...flighty πŸ˜‚). From the reviews I've seen, and now yours, of The Empusium, I think I'll give that a miss.

Based on Alicia's recommendation (Han Kang in general), I started Greek Lessons in December and got 1/3 of the way through - I actually liked it and want to get back into it, it just wasn't the right time and place.

I've done my fair share of rereading, but not for books as recent as Station Eleven - I usually give myself 6-7 years minimum in between rereads (that's a rough estimate). Interesting...there are a couple of books that I read in the past few years I'd love to reread, maybe I should try sooner rather than later.

No, judging here about judging books based on covers πŸ˜‚ After reading The Empusium I wanted to really read Drive Your Plow immediately. Sadly, it was sold out in my local bookstore. Greek lessons I think I will read in May. I’m making it a goal to read one Han Kang per month. For April, I’m reading The Vegetarian.

I love the all woman line up here! You have convinced me on Tomb of Sand despite the length now - maybe I'll make it one of my big summer reads. Also loved the Empusium review - I think Tokarczuk isn't a 'mind blowing' author in my opinion, I think her writing is much quieter in its impact, but still profound! I find her books to be some of the most memorable years down the line, even if I didn't feel THAT blown over by them initially if that makes sense? Really looking forward to Memory Police & Vegetarian thoughts next month - both great books.

Yes, it makes sense. But I don’t feel that way towards Tokarczuk yet. Maybe because I’ve only read one book? Planning to read Drive Your Plow in May.

Wow, I love this wrap up! I couldn’t get into Rouge even though I love Awad’s other books (especially β€œAll’s Well” and her early novella β€œ13 ways of looking at a fat girl”). I agree it was weirdly really pricey?? Anyway, I also read sunrise on the reaping and while it wasn’t my favorite in the series, I love how Collins is continuing to build this world in such a thoughtful way. Modern classic indeed! Thank you for such a good post 🀍

do you think they price it high because it’s popular in Booktok?

What’s your favorite book in the Hunger Games series?

I'm very interested to see how you like The Vegetarian and how it compares to Human Acts. I also read Drive Your Plow as my first Tokarczuk and appreciated it but didn't love the experience of reading it...

"I have everything I need and everything else will be given to me in time." - that is beautiful. I LOVE Station Eleven and maybe this is my sign to revisit it...

I've had Rouge for a while but I just never want to pick it up when the time comes for choosing my next read, I can't really say why. Maybe I am burned out on the beauty obsession trend

My copy of Human Acts has the first chapter of The Vegetarian. I read through it and so far I liked it. Let’s see how I will like the rest.

Upon finishing my third reading of Station Eleven, I decided I need to reread it every 2 years. For inspiration. haha. It’s the perfect book.

On Rouge, maybe you can read it in October. for the eerie vibes.
